Hindu Ashes Ceremony at Sea.
Scattering the Ashes at Sea – Cronulla
The passing of a loved one can be a traumatic time for those close to the deceased. The Hindu faith custom is to cremate the body within 24 hous of passing. The ashes are then taken to a body of water or sea and scattered at a site of significance.
In accordance to Hindu ritual, once the body has been cremated the ashes of cremated bodies must be sprinkled and dispersed into the ocean, or in waters that flow into the sea. This act then transports them to their next life.
A preferred place of significance to spread the ashes has been Captain Cooks landing at Botany Bay’s Inscription Point. We treat the burial party with the utmost respect they deserve.
